Spiegel

Spiegel, 'Mirror' in Dutch, was the original name of a general store in colonial Semarang Old Town. Spiegel Bar & Bistro is located in the original building, a historical 'Reflection' of Old Town. The design mission for this project was to respect and maintain the 100+ years of the heritage structure. Façade and interior fittings were kept and restored. The high ceiling reflects the grandeur and utility of Dutch Indies architecture. The ultimate privilege was to preserve and continue the legacy of an iconic building, when history is under constant threat by modern development. The original DNA of 'Spiegel' is present in a new landmark of Semarang Old Town.
